Jessica Antonelli is a visual artist and creative strategist whose work explores solarpunk visions of Galveston as the “Venice of the South.” Through oil, watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media painting, she reimagines the island’s future as beautiful, resilient, and regenerative—blending local history, ghost lore, and environmental themes with bold optimism. Jessica’s practice expands beyond the canvas into participatory projects and community-based art that invite people to step into imaginative, collaborative futures.

Alongside her studio practice, Jessica has taught art for over 15 years in settings ranging from public schools in Texas to her own popular workshops in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. She now shares that teaching practice in Galveston, where she also serves as Director of Operations for La Izquierda Surf & Music Fest. Whether painting or teaching, Jessica’s work is rooted in cultivating creativity as a form of connection, joy, and resilience.
